Kentucky Derby Preps : (January 24, 2015) Our New York 2015 Kentucky Derby team is waiting for the return of, El Kabeir after his dominant off the pace victory in the Grade 3 Jerome Stakes, with should remind us just how much this colt prefers New York's Aqueduct strip, so we should see his next start in the Grade 3, $250,000 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct on Feb. 7, 2015 for trainer John Terranova. The Withers Stakes is a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds that awards points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. It is held each February at Aqueduct Race Track. The race was first run in 1874 at Jerome Park Race Track and has been run at several tracks since.
Aristides, Colin, Sir Barton, Man o' War, Count Fleet, Native Dancer, Dr. Fager and Ack Ack are among the legendary horses to have won the race. More recent winners include Alpha, Bernardini and Gone West. Jockey Eddie Arcaro and trainer Sunny Jim Fitzimmons each won the race on a record six occasions.

- PAST PERFORMANCES
EL KABEIRS dominant victory in the Grade 3 Jerome Stakes, should remind us just how much this colt prefers the Aqueduct strip, and we hope to see his next start in the Grade 3, $250,000 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct on Feb. 7, 2015 for trainer John Terranova and a rematch with the runner up in the Jerome NASA, who was quietly born May 11, 2012 in Pennsylvania. I think NASA demands a long hard look as a contender in this Withers field as well as a legit 2015 Derby Contender, NASA is the son of champion SMARTY JONES and the unraced Seattle Slew mare Shootforthestars. As his sire Smarty Jones won two-thirds and just missing the Triple Crown and his damsire winning the Triple Crown in 1977 NASA has all the breeding to be extraordinarily successful as he moves forward on his path to chasing his own Kentucky Derby Day Dream. With a mix of speed on top with the Elusive Quality sire line over the speedy stamina that SEATTLE SLEW lends to his mares. Amazingly, in the first five generations alone of Nasa’s pedigree, he has three Kentucky Derby winners, a Preakness winner, two Belmont winners, and two Triple Crown winners (Secretariat and Seattle Slew). Nasa also has Alydar on his distaff line, which lends even more Stamina, this guy just has it all in him and as the preps get longer..look out.
